Spotlight missing a lot of files when I search the contents of excel. Especially for search the digital in the files of excel.
If I use 10.13 or lower version for the same excel files, everything is fine.
My device is 2018 mac mini.

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:
Perhaps Microsoft's indexing extension doesn't work or is stuck somehow.
Mine is still indexing both olde xls files and the new file format.
I don't use it much, so I don't have anything recent to look for other than a test file I created. It searched fine.

Thank you for your reply. I try to create a new "Number" file, then input some digital in the cell. The Spotlight still can not find this file.
I copy all of the files to USB Disk, and these files can be find in Spotlight. But if I add new files or modify some files in the USB Disk. Spotlight will missing these files. (Can't find it anyway, even if I re-build the index.)
Sounds like Finder is triggering a scan when they are moved, but it isn't triggering a scan when created.
I don't know how to fix that.
I don't seem to have that problem, though, so it appears to be something preventing proper operation of the indexing process as opposed to a bug in the OS.
There is no way to do that and it wouldn't prove anything. There is something malfunctioning on your systems. I don't know how to resolve that. There might be something in the log files, but I don't know how to search them for the spotlight logs.
It is very strange that a new file is not being indexed correctly.

I test many times. If the contents in "Excel" or "Number" is number, Spotlight can not find these files. If I add letter in this number (make it as character), this file can be found in Spotlight. (if I search the part of the number in these updated files, there are still can be found)
There's nothing unusual in the report. I ran some tests and found that text can be searched for in Excel files but not numbers in Mojave and Excel 2008. Numbers can be searched for in text files, pdf files, pdf files made from Excel or Numbers files but not in Excel or number files.
No one can "solve it" for the current version of Mojave, it appears to be a conscious decision. All you can do is give feedback:

anyone can give a help? I brought 3 sets of MAC mini. Due to this problem, 3 sets of mini can not be used, only the old MAC can be used now.
Have you tried re-building the spotlight index?

I re-install the OS, did not install any third party software (use the clean system). Still meet this problem.
3 sets of Mac mini are same.
I've got a Mini and two MacBook Pro's. None have the problem.
