I bought Apple I watch series 4 cellular + GPS edition from amazon in US. And now I am in India and my cellular service doesn’t work for this model.
Could you please help me on this topic.

(a) they can’t fit the extra hardware into the available space within the watch, and (b) there may be constraints from some national approval authorities who will not allow the device to support foreign radio bands not approved in their region. Having to manufacture different regional models is likely to have a higher cost to Apple, so you can be sure they only went that route from necessity.
The bottom line is that the cellular functions of a watch purchased in USA will only work in the North America cellular region. The watch will continue to work when linked to your paired iPhone, but you will never be able to use its cellular in India. There is no way the hardware can be modified to change this, everything is on one integrated logic board.

You can use your Watch perfectly well just you can’t use the cellular part. The Watch will still make calls and do messages just need to me near your iPhone.
Yes I can you use the GPS feature of my watch. But I bought this product for its cellular feature even if my iPhone is switched off I can still be accessible via my watch .. and now I am unable to use this feature .. I am really not happy .. there should be some work around to enable cellular bandwidth to A1976 model as well ..
Well I am sorry but you should check what you buy before you part with your money. Amazon do have a returns policy if it’s not fit for purpose. I afraid you will have to live with it. Still a fantastic Watch. Question what would you do if it didn’t work? Would you send it back?
Yes I agree to you .. but on amazon.com they didn’t mention the model no. Otherwise I would have bought model no. A2008 44 mm because I knew I will be travelling to India .. why Apple couldn’t send some update so my current model A1976 gets cellular bandwidth of India.. I was more eager for cellular feature , otherwise I would have bought GPS model. Unfortunately I don’t know how to return it back .. I can’t come to US again now atleast some months from now .. can Apple make the serial no. Of my Apple watch visible international ?

Apple only supplies the “local” version in each region. You can’t buy the non-US version anywhere in USA, and you can’t buy the USA version outside the North America region. If you want a watch which works in India you should buy in India. If you buy anywhere else (even here in UK which uses the same regional model) there is no guarantee it will be accepted onto an Indian cellular network, and many users have reported problems with privately imported watches being refused by their home network.
