Command + C doesn't work...

For some reason the combination of the Command key and the "C" key have stopped working on my 2018 Macbook Pro. The Command key works with other keys e.g. Command+V and Command+N, and the "C" button also works on its own. Have tried rebooting the laptop and that didn't work.

My first 2 thoughts are:

  1. Make sure the copy command works when you use the menu command. The problem might be with the clipboard and not the key press
  2. You have created a macro using the command C so that it doesn't copy any longer. Check the Keyboard tab of System Preferences. Click on Shorcuts and see if you have applied command C to any commands there
    1. if you use a macro program like Keyboard Maestro check it as well
