I recently received an email from Apple support saying that I had to fill out an Account Verification Form if I wanted to keep my Apple ID active. How do I know this is a real Apple email and not someone trying to get my information?

This is Apple's official page regarding Apple ID's and if there is any issue with your account you will be able to address it there.
At no time should you click on any suspicious email links that ask you for personal information as Apple will never ask you for personal information via email.
If you have further concerns with the status of your Apple account, you can contact Apple Support direct and ask them!

This is completely fake communication.
You can also notice if you see the email address that says "support@apple.com" <fakeemailaddress@here> that is a dead giveaway.
As an IT Security Professional, I always tell people to NEVER use links in unsolicited emails, always type in the address manually and go to a trusted site yourself as this prevents hackers/unsavory types from being able to trick you into revealing your private information!
