I spent 1h with the apple support and they were unable to help me removing the child account from the family.
I am now trying to delete the child account, after receicing the request approval and following the steps I am getting an error message.
I am having this SAME issue. Finally figured out how to make the request to delete the child account and am following the link sent to me to approve the request and am receiving this same error message? Did you ever solve this issue?? HOW DO I DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!?!?
Would you translate the error message to English or you might want to post in the French ASC.

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.
Try a restart.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Try a forced restart.
I created a fake account and send a transfer request to it. Attached the child to this new account and that’s it
impossible to remove a child account
