Consumer reports has un-recommended the iPhone 4

Apple, I love you and I love your products. I have two iPhones and an iMac.

I must say that some of the recent actions have left a really bad taste in my mouth. Censoring these forums is, of course, your right. However, I think it speaks volumes as to the kind of company Apple is. Please don't make me come to regret my Apple purchases.

Admit that you have a problem with the iPhone 4 and FIX IT!

I un-recommend the iphone4 also, I had better recption with my Razr on tmo! I think I'm going to have to get a Android, because I'm having so many problems with iphone 4 but I still want a smart phone that works!

It's still just the specific way you hold it, no less but not more. Otherwise reception is much better (weak or strong signal) than my old 3G and data is faster especially uploads.

I'm also disappointed in the antenna issue with the new iphone 4's. I just hope that if the issue is fixed via design change that all of us early adopters get to exchange our iphone 4's free of charge.

Focusing on this antenna "issue: is one thing, using this device is another. I use the phone in all its ways and its great. Why all the hysterics? In the rare instance I'm in a poor signal strength area, I don't touch the 1cm sq lower left. Big deal.

Maybe Apple should learn from CR and correct their mistake...

before i put on the bumper i dropped a few calls . and yes , my bars went down when i death gripped the phone.. plus , i still worry about the darn glass shattering.... but, the phone is spectacular . with that said. I do think there is a major design flaw ... and I don't think it is acceptable to just say buy a bumper. So you can make a call.. I'm still waiting out hope that Apple does the right thing..

I'm no engineer, but....yeah, it's a hardware problem. The software update they've promised is mostly hot air. They've promised that it will be available in "a few weeks". Look, the software change to make is tiny. It's the kind of change that could be engineered in a day if Apple wanted it to be. The "few weeks" is really a chance for them to try to figure something out. It's a delaying tactic. I'd keep an eye on your 30-day return date, if I were you. I'm keeping an eye on mine (July 24).

I am having the exact same antenna problem, touching the iPhone on the black line causing calls to drop when sitting in my office (where I spend 8 hours per day). None of my previous model iPhones had any issues in my office. Apple please admit your design/engineering mistake and make it right for your loyal customers!

No problems here, and if you get the thin plastic case for iPhone 4 it covers the supposed "short the antenna" area.

Total non issue over here. I think people gargling salt water and putting the phone in their mouths may have an issue - but really, no problems here before I got the protective shield.

By the way, if you ordered through AT&T-- there's an extra 5 days added on -- according to the representative I spoke with -- to account for shipping.

Mine is being returned. But I'm still hoping against hope that Apple does the right thing. I love the phone. But it must work.
