AirPods won’t connect with iPad

My AirPods suddenly stopped syncing with my iPad. They were synced previously for months with no issue then out of nowhere they stopped connecting. My iPad is completely updated, I’ve restarted my iPad, turned Bluetooth off & on, Ive reset the AirPods. In my Bluetooth settings it shows my AirPods in my devices with the status as not connected but when I try to connect them a window pops up saying, “Connection Unsuccessful - Make sure AirPods are turned on & within range.” They are on & within range. I’ve tried every trouble shooting guide I can find but nothing is working. My AirPods sync fine with my phone though. Please help!
