Can I use an external battery, like a 45 watt power bank supply, to easily recharge my mid 2015 macbook pro?

This is the macbook I have with I7 and 1tb HD: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP719?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Can I use one of the 45 watt, 20,000mhw power banks on amazon to recharge or power my macbook? I have a 85 watt magsafe power adapter I use normally use to recharge the battery, but I'd liek to have something external for when I'm not by an outlet.

Hello Mybg308,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that you would like to know if a third-party power bank can be used with your MacBook. The following article has information on which power adapters are the right ones for your Mac and may help you decide on one that will work for your purposes:

Hi, Mybg308 !

There is a very good reason Apple put an 85 watt charger in the box instead of a 45 watt charger. Have you ever tried to eat a really thick milkshake with too small of a straw? Well, that is what you are asking your MacBook Pro to do in terms of power. If - IF - you can even get it to work I can't imagine how many more hours it will take to charge the MacBook Pro while feeding it around half of what it needs to charge.

In short - really, really bad idea.

Good luck !
