When I place 6S near my XR, Apple Pay pops up on 6S and asks me if I want to pay. Why? How do I disable?

I have an iPhone 6S (work) and iPhone XR (pers).

When I place 6S near my XR, Apple Pay pops up on 6S and asks me if I want to pay and displays my Corporate Amex asking for my thumbprint to pay. This has occurred like 10 times in last few days.

This didn't happen when I carried both 6S and 7 together.

Why does this happen? How do I disable?

iPhone 6s, iOS 10

Apple Phone Support told me only to restart my 6S, which worked for about 5 minutes, then back to same situation.

I've now restarted both phones & it looks like that might have resolved the issue (for now). Thanks!

Sounds like such a easy/dumb solution, but since it had never happened before in 8 years of owning iPhones, my first instinct wasn't to just restart devices...

Sorry, this morning it started again, so the "solution" was only temporary. I don't think having to restart both devices daily is the long-term solution. I don't use any Point of Sale merchant apps that try to bill others for selling anything. I don't have any apps open beyond standard social media, email, calendar, browser.

The only thing that has changed since this issue started is my new iPhone XR and having Apple Pay Cash in my XR wallet.

The only thing that has changed since this issue started is my new iPhone XR and having Apple Pay Cash in my XR wallet. There must be some setting, somewhere, that keeps sending a message to my iPhone 6S that activates the NFC to request payment for "something"...
