Cannot use itunes, computer crashes completely upon start.

I have kind of an interesting issue with itunes, I have 2 playlists each with about 9 million duplicates of the same song, this causes iTunes to use all of my memory instantly and freezes my monitor and computer, with only the physical power button helping.

Currently I have tried deleting and reinstalling, as well as removing the playlists on my phone, but so far neither works and still crashes my computer if I open iTunes.

How can I remove this playlist from my computer's iTunes without opening the application?

64-bit Windows 10 if that helps.

Windows, Windows 10

Apologies, I focused on iTunes crashing rather than the potential issue with the library. If you press and hold down shift as you launch iTunes then after a few moments you should get a dialog asking you to choose or create a library. Clicking create would let you make a new library on another path into which you could import your media. Alternatively you can delete the current iTunes Library.itl file inside your iTunes folder and iTunes should make a new one when it next starts up.

If your media folder contains duplicates then so will a reconstructed library. See this post on duplicates.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. When reinstalling right click on the downloaded setup file and use run as administrator. It may also help to temporarily disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, or want to revert to an older version if the current one won't work properly for you at the moment. Links to the most recent builds are now at the bottom of the page.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
