Home APP and Homekit Doors/Windows contact sensors

Hi,

I would like to know why in the Home app, if my door/window contact sensor is set up as "Contact Sensor" I can see the status in the upper part of the screen (the summary like "kitcken is open" etc etc) but if the sensor is set up as "Window sensor" or "door sensor" the status is never shown in the summary in the upper part of the app.

On the icon the status is always shown normally.

Thanks

iPhone X, iOS 12

Hi there iVants,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. I understand you want to know why the status of your HomeKit accessory isn't showing as expected. I’ll be happy to help with this.

If the status of your HomeKit accessory isn’t showing as expected, restart your iPhone, and check again. If that doesn’t help, try deleting the accessory, restart your iPhone, and add it back. This link can help with these steps:

Set up and use the Home app

If that doesn’t help, you’ll want to contact the manufacturer of the HomeKit accessory. They can provide further info on how to best set up your sensor with you.

Best wishes.
