Bugsplat Reporter has popped up in the dock on my iMac, what is it and how do I get rid of it, bearing in mind I'm not very technical? Is it a virus and will it damage my iMac?

Thank you yes it worked, does that mean it has gone completely, or is still in the system and if so will it cause any problems?
FWIW, Bugsplat Reporter is code installed by some developers in their Apps to debug problems. You should be able to remove it from the Dock by right/control clicking its icon and choosing "Remove From Dock" from "Options". It won't hurt your Mac, it's just annoying.
as stated it a error reporting tool that some app you have installed on, so if their app crash in some manner you the user can provide them with details about how so they can attempt to fix the bug with the info providered by users
