Find my mac keeps selecting itself
IMac running High Sierra. In System Preferences>iCloud, the slider button for “Find My Mac” deselects itself every now and again but I can’t see why. Any suggestions?

Boot into Safe Mode and toggle the option off and on several times. Reboot normally and see if there's any improvement.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

I’ll give that a try. The problem is that it can stay selected for weeks, maybe months, and it is not until something reminds me to check that I find it has been deselected. That makes it difficult to establish if something has worked to stop the deselection..
Have you tried disabling this option, logging out of your Apple ID, and then, logging back in and enabling it again?
