I’m trying to check the statue of my repair

Hi. My Iphone XR had had some issues so I sent it to the Apple repair factory. I’ve just got my phone back but I don’t understand what they did to my phone.

iPhone XR, iOS 12

No problem!

So, just to reiterate, I really can’t guarantee I’m 100% correct here but I would highly doubt they replaced the whole phone looking at that.

The reason your serial number has changed is because the serial numbers are individually assigned to each logic board. Because you had a logic board replaced, the device has now got a new serial. The logic board is essentially what makes the phone a device and not just a bunch of scrap inside a pretty glass and metal case. So, in a way, it is a new phone... just it probably has the same enclosure and cameras and speaker etc as your old one 😅 if that makes sense?

Hey,

To be honest with you most phone repairs at Apple are usually done on-site in-store so these kind of repair sheets are not very commonly seen, so take my answer largely as speculation and with a pinch of salt.

My understanding of this is though that they have replaced the main logic board (the brains of the phone containing all the main computing systems and chips), the lightning flex (a cable connecting the lightning port to the logic board), the display and the battery. By doing these repairs they seem to have returned the phone to workable state. Apple and their authorised service providers always test devices before returning them to make sure they are now working properly, so rest assured it will probably be ok 👌.
