Speakers randomly stop working

So, my macbook pro, 2017 (13 inch, no touchbar) has a weird problem where sometimes when I wake it up, the speakers won't work. And they're not muted, either! For me, the only way to fix it is to restart. Before you ask, I'm on the latest version of Mojave. Is there a fix for this besides an apple repair?

Two things—

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
