Can’t delete tv app
I think I’ve looked everywhere, but I am unsuccessful in finding a way to remove or hide the “TV” and “Videos” apps. Is there any way to do so?
thanks.

How are you trying? If you rest your finger on the TV app until all apps start to jiggle, an x should appear on the upper left side of the app. Tap the x and the app should be gone, but still remain in your app history.
You could also check Settings > Screentime > Cpmtemt & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Purchases and see if deleting apps has been turned off.
It does on my device, which is why I also suggested you check Settings > Screentime to see if you have turned deleting apps off.
The ability to remove apps from the home screen and delete the built in iOS apps has been a feature since iOS 10, I think. I can’t access any support articles right now. Something weird is going on with the Apple servers.
I am taking a wild shot in the dark here, but Is your iPad a personal device and not a company owned device? Did you buy it brand new and not second hand?
So you are using Family Sharing? As far as I know that should not have any impact unless you restricted app deleting in Screen Time and that would affect all app deletion, not just the preinstalled apps.
Thanks for also pointing out you need to be on iOS 12. I assumed the OP was because his signature says they are.
iOS 11 (which I'm still using) allows me to delete some built in apps too.
Would it let you delete the TV app? iOS 11 for me, is a distant memory.
Don't know. I can't try that right now because my iPad is at home and I'm not.
Maybe you press it too hard? What is your iPad model?
iPad Air 1st gen. Personal device and bought new. So weird, I have option to delete it on my iPad mini 5th gen. Does it matter that it is set up for my son as a family member?
If you are using Parental Controls on your son's iPad, that could certainly be a contributing factor here.
Built-in apps you can delete from your device

If you have iOS 12 or later, you can delete these apps from your device:
Yes using family sharing. Both of my sons iPads I just realized have the same issue. With the deleting apps prevention off, I can delete normal apps, but I am unable to delete iOS installed apps on the list. Me however, the supervising parent, a, able to delete those apps on my own iPad. Must be something with the family sharing it seems.
doesn't show an x as it is a built in iOS app.
Yes, using iOS 12.2 on my iPad. Weird is that all of those apps listed above, I cannot delete. But I can delete other downloaded apps.
