Move from Android

iPhone XR generating a 6 digit code but this is not working with the MotoG5Plus Android phone. Various articles suggest the code can be 10 digit but not seeing any option to get the XR to generate this. If the code is being used for the password for the peer to peer wireless connection the devices try to establish then the Android forces an 8 character minimum I think.

How do I get the XR to generate the 10 digit code?

iPhone XR, iOS 12

I'm setting up new iPhone XR and trying to use the Move from Android option in the setup process to transfer data from my existing Android phone. I've installed the Move to iOS app on the Android and the iPhone generates a code that is then entered into the app on the Android. The iPhone then advertises itself as a wireless point that the Android tries to connect to. The code the iPhone is generating is only 6 digits and fails as the Android forces a password minimum of 8 characters.

Yes, but can't proceed past step 4 because the two devices can't establish direct connection.

I think what happens is that when the iPhone generates the code it also drops off the WiFi network it is on and advertises itself as a wireless access point for the peer to peer part of the process. When you enter the code on the Android it is supposed to connect to the iPhone wireless using the code as the password(?). The issue I think is that the code is two short for the Android as it enforces the standard and does not permit a password less than eight characters.

Articles I have seen suggest the transfer process can generate a 10 character passcode but there doesn't appear to be an option in the process that a user can force that to happen.

Hope that makes sense.
