MacBook Pro Fans at 7000rpm

My 2018 MacBook Pro 13” recently throttled up to 7000rpm on the fans and it sounded crazy. I was downloading some photos from an external hard drive when this happened. Is it normal to reach this fan speed, or can that wear out the bearings or other components in the fans from how fast they go?

Well the fans are working hard to keep your Mac cool enough to operate.

If a reboot does not solve your issue you can

reset the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
