How do I stop a downloaded PDF file from rotating while trying to view it
How do I stop a downloaded PDF file from rotating while trying to view it
It sounds like you’re saying a .pdf is rotating from landscape (horizontal) to portrait (vertical) view on you, as you’re trying to view it. (This can happen to photos, too, but with photos you can make a permanent fix so they won’t flip.)
It’s an easy fix! You’ll need to set your ROTATION LOCK from your Control Panel “on” to keep it from flipping.
Here’s what it looks like on your control panel. Where your control panel is accessed, will depend on your iPhone or iPad model. As you can see from my illustration, on my iPadPro, 3rd generation, it comes down from the top right. It’s a lock symbol with a directional arrow, indicating a rotational lock.
Just be sure you unlock it, once you’re done viewing your .pdf file!
If you’re pretty new to all this and curious about some of the control panels I have illustrated, here’s a link that talks about them: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202769
Additionally, if you’re not familiar with how to customize them for yourself, as I’ve done, these steps will illustrate. It’s so helpful to have them customized and right there at your fingertips.
First, under SETTINGS, choose CONTROL CENTER. Then, choose CUSTOMIZE CONTROLS:
Then, choose which you’d like to display on your control panel. (Sometimes, you’ll have more or less, depending on which apps you have installed.)
The red buttons are pressed to REMOVE one from those showing on your Control Panel. The green buttons are pressed to ADD one you’d like to have on your control panel, displayed for ease of use.
The stacked lines to the right of those with the red buttons are pressed to rearrange how they appear on your display. You can experiment with that.
Hope this is helpful!
