Recording of myself playing my guitar

I can record myself on my Mac using Quicktime and then save this to my folder in iCloud. However the Quicktime player app isn’t shown on my iPad mini 2 and isn’t available on the App Store. At present, instead of keeping all my selfie movies in one folder, I have to use the iPad camera and store the movies in iPhotos or I movies. I’ve tried transferring my iMovies to my iCloud folder containing the Quicktime movies, but they won’t open. I’ve seen comments about plugging my iPad into my computer but that sounds very complicated and clunky. Why can’t I have Quicktime on my iPad so that all my movies are in the same format and can be stored in the same place?

Use the Files app on your iPad and iCloud Drive on both your iPad and Mac to save movies. View movies created on either your iPad or Mac using the Files app on your iPad. One app on your iPad, the same file stored on your iCloud Drive accessed from either your iPad or Mac.

On your iPad while in the Camera app, after you've just finished recording a movie of yourself, tap the movie thumbnail below the record button. In the upper right of the screen tap the share button to the left of the trashcan. Tap Save to Files at the bottom of the screen. Tap the iCloud Drive folder where you save your movies. Tap Add. This is the same iCloud Drive folder to which you save your QuickTime movies on your Mac.

To view your movies on your iPad, open the Files app. Tap iCloud Drive beneath Locations in the sidebar. Navigate to the folder that you save your movies to. Tap the folder. Tap the movie you just recorded on your iPad. Tap the play button and the movie will play. When the movie stops playing tap the screen. Tap Done.

In this iCloud Drive folder as viewed from the Files app on your iPad, you've saved QuickTime movies from your Mac. As above with the movie recorded on your iPad, access the folder from the Files app and tap the Quicktime movie to play it. If a download icon is attached to the movie icon, the movie will download from your iCloud Drive to your device. To view info about the movie, long press on the movie icon and tap Info.
