Any photos within text messages are now disappearing after a few days. I get a box saying tap to download. After that I simply have a box with a file name but no picture. Cannot seem to find them anywhere on phone or cloud storage.
iPhone 7, iOS 12
Check this in settings.
Are these SMS messages (green) or iMessages (blue)?
Tap the name of the the contact on top of message conversation
Click info button
It will take you to Details Screen
Scroll Down
You will see two tabs (Images / Attachments) All your pics are here
If you see any other option
Scroll further down
You will get an option to Download from iCloud
These are SMS messages
For this specific contact I can go to details and photos/attachments. There are multiple gray boxes with small blue box inside. Tapping box reveals file name. No option to download
