Unable to enter Photos on my iMac

When wishing to view my photographs in Photos I get a sign in the middle of the screen stating ' closing library '. This is most frustrating as it has been like this for a couple of days. I am able to view a limited number of my photographs in iPhotos but this app only holds half the number held on Photos. How do I open Photos?

Photo library cannot be found When I open Photos it gives the message Photos cannot find the System Photo Library named “Photos Library” It gives me an option to pick another one and points to the one that exists under the folder Pictures. However, if I select it the thing immediately goes back to the above. This happens on my iMac and my MacBook Air. The library is obviously there. On the iPhone and iPad I can look at pictures without a problem. I did delete that library on an old iMac that I was giving away. I rarely look at photos on my OS machines.

System Photo Library grayed out? On my Mac the photos library location is "show in finder" and my system photo library is grayed out. Is this why I cannot upload recent pics while using another app? When I try to change a photo or upload a photo in an app it takes me to some folders under pictures. How do I correct?

The Photos library could not be opened Photos was unable to open the library “Photos Library”. (4301) Today I tried to open up my photos library on my imac this is what popped up. I did not change anything with any files. I need help here. Please and Thank you.

Sometimes it helps to force-quit Photos and then to restart it. But make a copy of your Photos Library as a backup, before you try force quitting Photos. ( -menu > Force Quit, then click Force Quit Photos).
