adding photos to iphone

I had to delete and restart my iphone. Before I did, I copied all of the photos from my phone to a file on my pc. I used the simple method of opening iphone's DCIM file and copying the file folders numbered 100apple, 101apple, etc. to my desktop.

Now I would like to return those files with their photos to my iphone.

I don't seem to be able to copy from pc to phone in the same way that I copied from phone to pc.

Seems like there should be a way of doing it. Any help?

Thanks for your guidance. I followed the instructions and sync about 9 file folders with a few thousand photos. ITunes implied that it was successful. However, when opening photos on the iphone, only those photos from the past two years (probably from the same folder) were there.

Should I have told ITunes to sync a single folder that has several folders within instead of sync 9 different folders?
