disc burning in target mode
Mac mini, 2014, Yosemite.
Thought I would be able to use the disc on my Mac Pro via target mode to burn music from iTunes.
Not possible??
Thanks.

If you mean the remote disk feature as described here - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203973
Then no this will not allow burning.
If you mean accessing the CD/DVD drive of a Mac Pro by the Mac mini when they are connected via Target Disk mode then I don't know for certain but it might be possible. They would have to be connected via FireWire, this means you would need the Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter for the Mac mini 2014 end. See - https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MD464ZM/A/thunderbolt-to-firewire-adapter
Thanks John,
I do have a firewire 800 connected via thunderbolt adapter. However, I am not even seeing the disc show up on the desktop when in target mode. I see the other drives on the mac pro, just not the disc drive.
Is this with a (presumably blank) disc in the drive?
If so then it seems it will not be possible. In which case getting a USB DVD drive would be the best option, these are very cheap these days.
Thanks John,
I do have a firewire 800 cable with the thunderbolt adapter. However, the disc does not appear when connected via target mode. Is this natural?
Yes, that is what I was trying to do; burn iTunes selections to disc. I'll look for the external USB drive.
Thanks again.
