Mac Book Storage Issues

Hey there, I have got a Mac book pro mid 2015 addition and from the last few weeks I am experiencing issues with it's storage. On booting up my mac, I check my storage to see around 25 gb of free space available. After a few hours of working it suddenly runs out of memory. On checking the storage details, I see only a few megabytes of memory left. I'm also happening to see that around 90+ gigabytes of the storage space is being occupied by the 'SYSTEM', which really blows me away as to how is that even possible. I've been using this system for 3 years now and such kind of issues have never happened. Can anyone help me out with what can be causing these issues and how can I fix them?

"System" from what I have seen is not the macOS operating system itself, but represents deleted data on the device's flash that hasn't been overwritten yet. macOS does this to prevent unnecessary "wear" on the NAND RAM chips.

System also includes Time Machine local snapshots, but are marked as 'purgeable' and should not be removed manually.
