Does iphone xs facetime work on a metro pcs prepaid sim?

I tried however after adding the number the call option is dimmed.

FaceTime should work with any carrier, anywhere in the world (except for some countries in the Middle East). You need to log in with your Apple ID, and your carrier account must have free international SMS enabled because Apple's FaceTime server is in the UK. Check with Metro PCS regarding international SMS support.
