MLB AtBat app crashes on Apple TV 4

I am having problems watching archived games on the MLB AtBat app, Apple TV 4, OS 12.2.1, live games are not a problem. I have contacted MLB.tv and their form response is to update software or contact Apple, which is just lazy. The app simply stops every 10 to 20 minutes and if restarted still crashes, but at different points in the games. I have re-installed the app twice and that hasn't worked. I have done a complete factory reset of the Apple TV device and the problem persists. This is most frustrating since my team plays 8-hours behind my time in the UK, so I watch most games as archives. This problem does not occur if I use the mlb.tv website through AirPlay on my laptop, but then, of course, I do not have the use of a remote. Any suggestions please?

This is excellent news, thanks very much for updating the thread with the results of your discussion. Great that they know they have a problem and are actively working on it. Will you keep us posted if they have any further communication with you? Did the manager give you any sense if they knew what the problem was? I know it pre-dated the recent tvOS update for me.

Concerning the "Hide Scores" function, I received this e-mail from MLB this morning:

Thank you for your email. To fix the hide scores:

1. Log onto a computer and choose a game at- https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games

2. Once the game begins, locate settings in the top right.

3. From the Settings of the Web player, set the spoilers to the chosen position and return to the game then close the media player.

4. Force close all apps on the Apple TV - https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-close-apps-on-apple-tv-4173833

5. Reaunch the At Bat app on the Apple TV and the spoiler setting should now be corrected.

The spoilers setting or hide scores is controlled by the web player settings.

Sincerely,

Well now, I just watched all 5 and a half hours and 28 runs with Padres and Rockies and no crashes. Sweet!

The spoilers reset fix is a bust however. I hide scores on the laptop site but it stays off on the AtBat app. So I set the app again then almost immediately they both switch off again. So I’ve taken to squinting as I start either one or hold my hand up to hide the scores, go to settings and turn the spoilers off again.

Here's our experience with the spoilers fix via the web player:

Hiding spoilers in the web player works and will stick for days...UNTIL we toggle the sores pref in the TV app.

We often turn on/off the prefs on the TV app, allowing it to "show scores" briefly, so we can see the standings. Then when we go back and turn OFF scores in the TV app, it won't stick. In fact, when we go back to the web player, the hide spoilers preference is set back to off again.

So as long as we set spoilers off in the web player and don't toggle the prefs in the TV app, it keeps us spoiler/score free.

If we want to see the standings/other scores, we have to go to our phones.

Also - STILL NO PAUSE ability and we still can't start a game from the beginning either 😠
