Trading in my iPad

I'm trading in my iPad to apple and buying a new one online. Does the credit I get for trading my old ipad in get refunded from my credit card when I buy my new ipad?

If you get your virtual gift card, once your trade back to Apple is fully processed, you can then use that towards the replacement purchase IF you’re going to wait. Otherwise, you’ll receive the virtual gift card which has no expiration date. Then, you can use that for some later purchase, but you cannot use it at the App Store, which was disappointing for me to hear. A call to the Apple Store (sales) will answer all your questions and provide all the assistance you need.

I’m on my 4th iPad, having traded in two and sold the third. In each case, I wanted to have my replacement before I turned in the older one for ease of set up and transfer. I traded the two in to Amazon for two reasons: First, they gave me a better trade-in price. Second, Amazon gave a store credit which I knew I’d use, as I buy from them all the time. I checked with other third-party trade-in places, and most had credits and/or quotes that didn’t seem as desirable. Different third-party trade-in dealers give different quotes and have different methods of payment.

The last one I sold to a friend, again waiting ‘till the replacement arrived, knowing her purchase price would offset my credit card balance.

With my newest, fourth purchase I found out too late that I could have traded in my iMac to Apple — which I ultimately did, due to the shipping box being free. However, I would have postponed my iPadPro purchase, allowing the trade to process, to take advantage of the Apple Store credit which I knew I’d be able to use.

As it is now, I have a piece of paper with a tickler on it — the written code expires within a year, so I must be sure to follow up on that — despite the fact that the virtual Apple Store gift card has no expiration date. It’s likely I’ll use it for my next keyboard/folio from Apple, as I wear them out fast. Was happy to see that, again, Apple is selling the Logitech brand (and it’s now available for the 3rd generation iPadPro).
