Mackbookair won’t power up

My MacBook Air will not turn on. I recharged it this morning; green light on power cord indicates charged. Screen is dark. Pushing power button doesn’t cause it to power up.

What at should I do next in order to troubleshoot? The computer is about 3 - 4 years old.
