Since upgrading to iOS 12.2 I can no long do picture in picture with any app, including Apple products. I have pip enabled, I’ve done a hard reset and it’s still not working. The pip button does not show up when playing videos like it used to. I have an iPad Air 2. This is very frustrating as I liked watching videos while doing other things and is no longer working.

Use Multitasking on your iPad - Apple Support
Be certain Settings > General > Multitasking & Dock > Picture in Picture = “On”.
For me personally it’s the sky news app. PIP icon is visible but does nothing. PIP enabled in settings (multitask and dock). Toggled and rebooted in between, no difference. Running iOS 12.3.1 on 6th gen iPad and issue was present on last release too. Worked fine a month ago.
It’s clearly either a bug or Apple intentionally removing support for the feature from certain models and not telling anyone.
Maybe some apps no longer offer PiP unless you monthly subscribe to some higher feature tier?
Agree this feature is broken for me too and I’m finding not having it very annoying.

Since neither one of you are being specific enough to tell me which app/s are causing this issue, all I CAN DO is offer reasonable speculation.
To be fair I haven’t read release notes of the last few update so who knows maybe they did tell us..
How do you know for sure the app developer has no longer allowed this feature, something like Google did with YouTube unless you subscribe to their subscription service.
I don’t. Sky News is the only app I have that shows the PIP icon and I use regularly. Neither Netflix nor iPlayer show the PIP icon when playing video. I don’t know whether those apps ever offered it as I only used PIP with the Sky News app.
Perhaps the original poster will tell us which app he/she is trying to use.
