i am not able to restore backed up data from itunes. i didnt set up any password while taking backup, now while restoring it is asking for password

You may have encrypted your iPhone backup in iTunes without knowing it.
Just connect your iPhone to iTunes and then go to Summary > Backup and uncheck Encrypt iPhone backup to unlock it.
