My whole camera roll is gone

Almost all of my camera roll is gone. Prior to this happening, I was deleting photos from messages because my storage was full. I had over 1000 photos and now I have none. They aren’t backed up but I really need them back.

Are they in the recently deleted folder? If not, and you don't have a backup made prior to when you did that, they're gone.
