How do I get Garageband to increase input volume from my MIDI keyboard?

Hi,

I'm running GarageBand 10.3.2 thru a MacBook Pro. I need to increase the input volume for my AKAI LPK25 MIDI keyboard so I can hear it when recording. I usually use the new software track, but there is no volume control (only keyboard sensitivity). If I use a plug in track, it has the volume control, but won't recognize the input. Surely this is something simple to fix?

Thanks,

Hi Gunga_Dan,

Thanks for the post in Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you have a question about using a keyboard in GarageBand.

To clarify, you're creating a track that uses the AKAI LPK25 rather than a software plug-in and you aren't hearing anything when you play through this track. While a MIDI track isn't going to have input volume in the same way that an audio track would, this resource may apply to your situation: GarageBand for Mac: Turn on input monitoring for audio tracks. If you find this doesn't clear things up, your best bet is to get in touch with GarageBand support using this link: Contact Apple Support

Cheers!
