Bootcamp drivers

Hi

I've read the thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7396261 and have a similar question.

I just reinstalled W7 on my 2008 Mac Pro (3,1 I think) and while I could never get my wireless keyboard and Trackpad to work with the Bootcamp drivers, they are now working without them, even worked fine in the Windows Installer !!! The only difference I can think of is that I installed Windows professional instead of Ultimate.

So now I am wondering, if I install Bootcamp drivers, will I lose my wireless keyboard and Trackpad ? Is there any reason to risk it ?

Thanks !

You can create a Windows System Restore point, and download the drivers appropriate for your Mac from Install Windows 7 on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support. If the updated drivers cause an issue, rollback to the System Restore point.

BT devices and WiFi devices can use the same radio frequency band and interfere with each other.

  • In your Network Adapter Properties, do you have a Bluetooth Collaboration property? If yes, this should be Auto or Enabled?
  • In your BT driver properties, check if Windows is allowed to Turn off the device to save power? If yes, it should be Disabled.

Well, things are getting more and more interesting ... I finally found out that I did not have any sound, so I installed the Bootcamp drivers and this totally wrecked Windows, could not boot anymore !

The Restore point did not help at that point because all I could do was lose the sound again or wreck Windows again.

So I made a clean reinstall followed by the Bootcamp drivers but now I am getting the Blue Screen of Death (page faults) randomly.

My plan now is to do another clean reinstall and install only the Realtek drivers from where I can find them instead of Bootcamp.

The last time I had this much fun was installing XFree86 on DarwinOS :-\
