Find my phone

Is it possible to manually turn my iphone to "online"? I am trying to set up find my phone and test it to see if it is working. I get the message that it is offline.

I don’t think I understand what you are saying. If you go to Settings>Your Name>iCloud>Find my iPhone>On and then launch and sign into the Find My iPhone app, you should see your phone location in there.
