File Vault Mac OS

I would like to enable File Vault on my MacBook Pro. I have read what is detailed here:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204837

My question is simply how to keep my MacBook Pro 'awake' as described in the above link to ensure the whole process proceeds as quickly as possible?

[I have posted in Mojave as that's what I personally am using, but the question would apply to any Mac OS that uses File Vault 2.]

Thank you Keith Barkley that's what I thought, but would I have to ensure that even the display does not sleep whilst the initial encryption or indeed initial decryption was in progress? What exactly does Apple mean by keeping the computer awake whilst setting this up? For instance would it damage a MacBook Pro to leave the display illuminated for the length of time needed to fully encrypt the whole hard drive?

Thank you Ptaxey, I know that it encrypts and decrypts in the background once set-up; but I wish it to perform the initial encryption/set up as quickly as possible, unattended (it will be in a secure location) and according to what Apple states in the link I posted. Thus, if one does not have to keep the computer awake, what does Apple mean by the instructions, please?
