I cannot update my iMac software (early 2009) from El Capitan to Mojave. This is causing problems when trying to update other software like Garageband. What's the solution? All help much appreciated

As mentioned your computer is simply too old to support Mojave. Mojave requires Metal which because available in 2012 and later iMac's GPUs. If you have a need for Mojave, the only solution is the buy a new(er) Mac.


I know this is not what you wanted to hear however it is correct.
