I deleted an app and now all the data is gone?

I had a lot of files(that I need) stored in the folder of an app. I just deleted the app because I no longer need it but now I can´t find my files. If all the files are seriously deleted then I´d like that to never happen again. Does iOS delete all the files in the app folder when deleting an app? How do I disable that? Is this done to save space? if so then I know how to delete stuff myself thank you very much.

iPad Pro, iOS 12

An iPad does not have a file system. Data is stored with the app. So when you deleted the app you also deleted any data stored with it.

If you have a backup made prior to the deletion, restoring the backup might recover the data.
