Where'd they go?
I need to find an old post I made a couple of years ago. My subscriptions list goes back only a short while. Is there some way to locate those old posts?

Some older posts? How about all posts I've made prior to two months ago. I've been on this forum since early 2009, with lots of posts. And occasionally I need to find an old one because it has the instructions I need for some problem to be fixed. While I am sure the Apple engineers have some technical reason for periodically "updating" this website, they make it tough on the user when everything changes.
Well, Mac, I think you are on to something. Apple clearly can't be relied upon to maintain the user experience so now I'll have to come up with my own Dewey Decimal system for saving instructions off line.
Use GoogleSiteSearch
DesertRatR site:discussions.apple.com - Google Search
I use the "Time" tool, but it does not 'sort' like oldest>latest or latest>oldest
I see Authored post from 2012 - several Google pages of results
Well, don’t blame me, I was just the messenger. I’ve never relied on this system; if I wanted to keep something, I downloaded or copied the content. And the changes here were fundamental as they went from a third party software to their own hosting and running the forums.

Google site search is not really a "trick" - just little known to the general population of the World (WideWeb) ;-)
(I have a tough time receiving compliments)
Thanks CCC. I had absolutely no idea Google could do such a thing. I wonder if duckduckgo can do such a thing. It is nowhere near as accurate as Google, however it has other benefits. Since there is no guarantee Apple won't muck up this website search at some point in the near future, I'll save it to my local Dewey Decimal System.
Ranting to us does no good. We are end users just like you. If you want your concerns to reach someone who gets an Apple paycheck, try this feedback link:
Some older posts have not been accessible since the forum software was changed a couple of months back and the entire site was revamped. They will be at some point (supposedly).
I keep instructions in TextEdit files, so they're always easy to find.

Google also has the advantage of "Boolean operators"
