Apple Watch won’t show camera on screen

Maybe Apple Watch (series 4) will connect to my camera, open the app and take a picture from the watch but nothing will show on the screen. It’s just black, except for the shutter button and timer. Both the watch and phone have the latest updates installed, and restarting both (or just the watch or just the phone) don’t do anything to help.
