Apple Trade -In

Hi , I have an iPhone 7 Plus that I want to trade in for an iPhone XR for $449 , but if I do purchase the iPhone XR as a SIM card free phone will my carrier which is boost mobile be able to cut it on because it is SIM card free ? Boost mobile is my cellphone service.
