Connect iPad to TV, why video is not in full screen?

I use a “lightning to hdmi” connector to connect iPad to TV to watch live TV on big screen.

But why the video on Big screen TV is not full screen?

Is there away to display the video in full screen?

iPad, iOS 12

Depends on the aspect ratio and resolution of the video.

Where are you viewing this video in, what App?

Does it deliver video in full 1080p?

Can your TV resize the video?

The iPad's desktop screen, is not the same Aspect Ratio as the TV, so it will never be full screen, unless it is zoomed in, and then parts of it may not be visible.

For videos from Apps or online, it depends on the source, and how it delivers the video.
