2019 version of office opening 2008 version files?

If I install the office home and business 2019 onto my mac os mojave version 10.14.5, will i still be able to access word, excel and powerpoint files that are on 2008 version 12.2.6 ?

install microsoft home and student 2019 Before I install Cortina on my MAC desktop computer I want to install the upgraded Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019. I need to do this because the current version of Office will no longer work under Cortina. Do I need to remover the current version before installing the upgraded version? I have seen mixed results on how to best install the new version. Thanks

Any file created on older versions of Office are almost always

forward compatible the newer versions (I never had any issues).
