Hi all,
I installed yesterday a new samsung ssd x5 (i want to use it for the install files of the gaming).
I noted that in windows the external ssd is very slowly. 400 mb/s writing 1900 mb/s reading.
In mac os I have about 2000 mb/s in writing and 2600 mb/s in reading.
The driver is connected to thunderbold 3 port. Can anyone help me ?

I use extFAT but I tried also to format it in NTFS. No change. I noted that if I unplug and plug again the ssd when I have windows runned the performance are similar to mac os but if I restart in mac os and then return in windows without do the plug/unplug the performance are bad.
Unplugging/plugging the disk re-negotiates the best possible speed, otherwise the controller tries to start from the lowest to highest. This should be related to the controller behavior. You may want to contact Samsung Technical Support.
ok I will do the reset as soon as I get at home... Anyway today I noted that if I start windows and then put windows in standby,
when I resume windows from standby the ssd work at correctly speed. Do you think that this can be an issue of windows , bootcamp or ssd ?

This is related to the Windows USBc/TB driver.
What type of file system is on the X5?
Interesting! you are getting T2 speeds. The NVMe controller on the X5 may be problematic. Can you check Samsung's website for any pending firmware updates?
yes, I updated to last version of the firmware available actually.

As a test, run a SMC Reset, connect X5 to macOS, and switch to Windows and test the speeds.
so what suggest to do ? I have to going with the SMC Reset anyway ?
The SMC Reset is a test to see if it helps negotiate a better transfer rate.
I just did now the smc reset but this doesn't solved my issue :(
I suggest contacting Samsung Tech Support. My suspicion falls squarely on the NVMe controller.
