I haven't used my old iPad 4th generation since years. now I wanted to give it to my son. it is in near new condition and there is nothing not working with it. nonetheless it say on the display iPad disabled try again in 121'259 minutes. what can I do to retrieve it? urgent! please help

thank you for your help. It did not work though. I could switch off the ipad by slinding it off, then followed the instructions. It did not work with restore so i started again and picked update. That worked and my opad looked like and update was occurring. When it seemed to be done, the text “your ipad is disabled came after the apple. It says to try again in 2 months, 3 weeks etc. new is that i can’t switch it off at all now, so i can’t even try the process of restoring it again. This is exhausting. Any ideas? And thanks again for taking the time to respond.....
I actually did, but after rejecting my restore attempt, i did an update. After which pressing the home button was not not enough, and had to press both home and top button in order to connect to the computer. All solved now though! Thank you very much!!! :-)

I'd say you didn't follow the directions exactly if you used the slider to turn off the iPad. It can often take a couple tries. If you can't do what is spelled out in the directions in the link, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for help.
