Personal photo as analog watch face on Apple Watch Series 3 or change size of digital display

Is there any particular reason that it is not possible to use a photo as an analog watch face? At the very least, is there a way to change the display options like size and position other than the option to block the top or bottom of the screen?

There is very little you can do to a photo within the watch and Watch App, except adjust the cropping so it fits a different format (almost square) watch screen. However, the watch app seems to do a reasonable job with photos from an iPhone, and you can also edit the picture in the Photo app on your iPhone. It is even possible to edit with something like Photoshop on a computer and transfer to your iPhone collection if your need to do more than the iPhone can handle. For example, the photo below started as a 24 megabyte image (6000x4000 pixels) from my DSLR before I cropped and resized so it would fit my phone and watch.
