my apple watch wont connect to my iphone because it says it needs the latest version of ios but my phone says i dont need an update. what do i do

My Apple Watch won’t connect to my iPhone because it says my iPhone needs the latest iOS update. But when I go to update it it says there is no update needed. What do I do?

Update your iPhone software, iOS 12.3.1 has been released in the last day or so. Then try the watch update again and it should work.
