There are lots of Magsafe to Magsafe 2 adapters but NONE I can find that allow a newer Magsafe 2 charger to power an older Magsafe (1) MBP.
It's an oversight if there isn't one. I realise Apple just wants us to buy a new $10k MBP but some of us are happy with our 17-inch.
If anyone knows of an after-market adapter, lemme know. TIA!
Apple still sells the Apple Magsafe power adapter here. The 85W Magsafe 1 adapter can work with any Magsafe 1 laptop even if the laptop originally shipped with a 60W or 65W adapter.
I do know that, though they aren't making any more. When these are gone, users of Magsafe (1) MBPs are up the creek. What I was talking about was the Chiclet-sized magnetic adaptor. They only make one so a Magsafe 2 charger can power a Macsafe (1) MBP not the reverse. A lot of us use Macs which last forever so this is a great oversight.
