Web browser for Lion Mac OS X 10.7.5

Those who in 2019 still run a Mac that is stuck with OS X 10.7.5 Lion because of hardware limitations can still use Waterfox version 56.2.10 from May 2019. It's based on Firefox but stripped off of some technologies. Waterfox is compatible with Firefox syncing of bookmarks, tabs, etc. over devices (mobiles).

I also tried the current iCab browser (shareware), but it is rendering too slowly on a 2007 Macbook, and appears to have incompatibilities with some websites.

Yes, the basic shortcomming of Lion, which makes Safari 6 and other browsers obsolete for more an more websites, is that it has not been updated with TLS 1.2 support for encrypted transmission. Only web browsers that don't rely on Lion's built-in web foundation, like Firefox and therefore Waterfox, are not hampered by this. Of course it would have been possible for Apple to update Lion for better compatibility, but unfortunately they decided to drop Lion support altogether long ago.

Virtual machines tend to run rather slow on old 2007/2008 Macs. It's still possible to natively install Windows 7 and probably some Linux, but in the end, it's OS X that users want to work with.
