goto-searchitnow redirect in Safari

Any search that I do on safari is getting redirected to bing or some other search engine via this:

h_ttps://goto-searchitnow.global.ssl.fastly.net (I have inserted a _ into the above address so that it doesnt appear as a clickable link on this post)

How can I get rid of this redirect? I have tried uninstalling flash player, resetting safari, following manual removal instructions, and downloading and running Malwarebytes but none of that has worked. Malwarebytes just says everything is clean after a scan. I have no extensions in Safari and I can't figure out where this is.

I am pretty certain this came with an "upgrade flash" download that I didn't read properly as I was in a rush.

This redirect happens when I search using the safari address bar, with the search engine set to google, but not when I go to google.com and do a search there. This is happening in Chrome as well.

I appreciate any help!

When using Malwarebytes, it may be necessary to run more than one scan. After scanning a couple of times, restart the computer and test. If necessary, follow the manual instructions. Do not download any other programs that are listed in the articles. Malwarebytes uninstall

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I see you're running into a possible search redirect issue in Safari and Chrome.

You've done some great troubleshooting so far. This resource, titled How to block pop-ups in Safari, may be of use, particularly this section:

"If you might have installed adware or other unwanted software on your Mac

If you see pop-ups on your Mac that just won’t go away, you might have inadvertently downloaded and installed adware (advertising-supported software) or other unwanted software. Certain third-party download sites might include programs that you don’t want with the software that you install.

If you think that you might have malware or adware on your Mac, update to the latest version of macOS. If your Mac is already running the latest version, restart it. macOS includes a built-in tool that removes known malware when you restart your Mac.

Check your Applications folder to see if you have any apps that you didn’t expect and uninstall them. If you continue to see advertising or other unwanted programs on your Mac, contact Apple."

If you decide to update as suggested above, be sure to make a backup beforehand: Back up your Mac with Time Machine
